Avoid Disconnection
Don't wait for a disconnect notice
Overwhelmed by winter heating bills? If you're behind on your payments, please contact us soon. Don't wait for a disconnection notice. Your best defense against being disconnected is working with us now on payment options and arrangements.
Between the months of October 15-April 15 we have a Cold Weather Rule that can be filled out to extend your payments until the last working day of the month. You must fill out this form by the 20th of the month to have your utility services protected. We cannot extend your payment without this form completed. Please make sure that you have all the information filled in (account number, phone number, and amount). Remember your PAYMENT DATE MUST NOT GO PAST THE LAST WORKING DATE OF THE CURRENT MONTH. A Cold Weather Rule Form is always enclosed with your delinquent notice, but if you have misplaced that form please click below to print off a new form. Once this form is properly filled out and completed please bring to City Hall or put in our drop box that is located on the South side of our building. We do need this form on or before the 20th of the month.

Need more reasons to reach out sooner rather than later?
- If we disconnect your service, we cannot guarantee same-day re-connection.
- If your service has been disconnected for non-payment, you will be charged an additional fee for re-connection.
What can you do?
Before you receive a disconnection notice, please contact City Hall at (507) 375-3241 right away to discuss a payment plan and to learn about our payment options. You might be surprised at how easy it is.
You may be eligible for help paying your heating bill. The assistance, available through other agencies, is based on things like household income, household size and type of heating fuel.
