Residential Development Incentives

DODA USA Expansion
In 2016 DODA USA utilized City tax incentives to expand their facilities with a new 31,000 square foot building.
Smithfield Parking Lot Expansion
Smithfield Foods added three production lines to their St. James facility in March 2022. Smithfield Foods created 140 jobs with the added production lines. They invested upwards of $800,000 to expand their parking lot.
Spec Building Sold to Great River Energy
The EDA built a 20,000 square foot industrial speculative building with the hopes to draw a business to town- and it worked.
Artplace Community Development Initiative
Over the span of 3 years the EDA worked with Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership on a grant that solved community development issues with art and creative strategies.
Discover St. James
The EDA was instrumental in spearheading Discover St. James- a collaborative community marketing strategy between the EDA, the Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).

Lewis Family Drug Opens in St. James
In the wake of Shopko closing in 2019 (the only pharmacy in town), the EDA assisted Lewis Family Drug in locating to St. James.
